You’ve probably noticed that Instagram has a new look. A nice new fresh simple and iconic one if you ask me. Last week Instagram introduced the new design. You’ll see an updated icon and app design for Instagram.

The previous icon was the inspiration for the new design, although the new one represents a much simpler camera. The rainbow stripes are translated to the gradient in the app icon. We also find this gradient in the new icons for Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Layout.
With the new design there are some changes in how the Instagram app interface looks. Don’t get all worked up now just because there’s an update, I’m sure this will work out fine for you soon enough. Just like we survived Facebooks new interfaces Instagrams redesign will soon be like it was ever there. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
The community is the driving force behind the development of the platform. Instagram indicates that the community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more. It has become a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day. The updated design and look and feel reflect how vibrant and diverse our storytelling has become.
If you are a designer this means you probably have to update some designs. Make sure you use the Instagram new vector logo as from now, and update all the previous ones. It’s also important to read up on the new identity guide so you use the new logo appropriately. The Instagram logo download can be found here. In the Instagram brand asset depository you can also find screenshots of the new interface, image files of the Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Layout apps, and a brand new identity guide.
